SURVIVOR: POTOMAC ISLANDS Saturday, June 20, 9:00am-5:30pm River Center at Lockhouse 8, C&O Canal National Historical Park, 7906 Riverside Ave., Cabin John, MD 20818 Join us for an action packed day of family fun, education, and adventure on the Potomac River and Minnie’s Island. Activities will include canoeing, orienteering, fire building, and knot tying. Team-based competition will be good natured with an emphasis on outdoor skills. Instruction and informational workshops will be offered for children ages 8+ and their parents. A lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs (along with buns and condiments) will be provided. Any other desired food or refreshment other than water should be brought along. Canoes will be available, although you are encouraged to bring yours if you have one. Participants should also bring sun-screen, bug-spray, and like items. Space is limited! Participants MUST RSVP to chapin@potomac.org by June 18.This Meetup was suggested by Bridget .

Bring your favorite camera and a good eye. Beginner Bird Survey with Potomac Conservancy Sunday, March 15, 9:30-11 am River Center at Lockhouse 8, C&O Canal National Historical Park, Cabin John, MD Bird enthusiast Kathy Reiser will demonstrate beginner bird survey and counting techniques along the shores of the Potomac and Minnie’s Island. Binoculars will be provided. This event is supported by REI.
